cammra a&e specifications: advanced vehicle recognition and access control

A&E specifications

CAMMRA

This edge app, installed on the Artpec 6, 7 and 8-based cameras, enables complex vehicle recognition including reading the license plate, recognizing vehicle make (brand), model and colour in both slow- and high-speed and multi-lane scenarios. The meta-data should contain also country of registration of the vehicle, direction of travel and based on the recognized model  additional vehicle classification. This functionality shall make the app a perfect fit for roadway and highway monitoring projects in police and city applications. It turns the camera to smart sensor providing all vehicle data for traffic and other systems, where vehicle monitoring is of high importance. Integration with selected GPS routers supports dynamic update of GPS coordinates attached to every vehicle event, which allows to use the app in mobile recognition scenarios (built-in camera in police patrol or other vehicle).

The fact the app is fully server-less makes it affordable, easy to deploy and systems equipped with the software are very easy to scale throughout time. It provides native integration with manufacturer’s backend system, which is available in different versions for small, medium-sized single-server and enterprise-grade multi-server systems. The software’s rich open API enables integration with third-party software too.

The app is also suitable for extended vehicle entry and exit management in areas such as parking lots. For use with barriers, it is an easy to install and configure standalone solution. It reads the license plate captured by the camera and verifies it against a camera white or black list. The software supports selected network door controllers, using license plates as credentials.

Key benefits:

• Easy to install, setup and control

• Turns camera into smart sensor providing all vehicle information

• Suitable for high-speed and multi-lane scenario

• Makes system easy to maintain and scale

• White and black lists for license plate verification

• Native integration with manufacturer’s backend software for fast vehicle search and insights

• Open API for integration with third-party software

The manufacturer shall provide free upgrades to new software releases within the same major version for the lifetime of the version. The embedded analytics shall be backed by free support within warranty period.

The contractor or designated subcontractor shall submit credentials of completed manufacturer certification, verified by a third party organization, as proof of the knowledge.

The main camera unit shall be manufactured by a company that have signed and support the UN Global Compact initiative as defined by United Nations www.unglobalcompact.org/

Licenses

Single license codes can be purchased from a distributor or selected partner (solution provider). One license is required per camera.

Configuration

Web configuration included

Settings

Define area of interest and direction of travel in scene.

Select region and preferred country.

White- and blacklist logic.

Barrier mode: Open to all, open to whitelisted, open except blacklisted.

Minimum width: 130 pixels for one-row license plates; 70 pixels for two-row license plates.

Event log entries including thumbnail image of license plate. Up to 1000 entries on camera storage. Up to 100 000 entries on pre-installed SD cards.

Configurable retention time of stored events

Configurable event buffer for case of connectivity loss

Detection range

Depends on the camera model.

Vehicle speed

Up to 200 km/h (125 mph)

Detection time

Less than 100 miliseconds.

Typical applications

Traffic monitoring - license plate and vehicle make, model, colour and type recognition in high-speed and/or multi-lane traffic scenario. The application detects and reads license plates in basically any speed both in enclosed areas like campuses, logistic or industrial areas, ports or airports and on any road including highways or multi-lane roadways. This allows forensic vehicle search and triggering an alarm based on preconfigured parameters in VMS such as XProtect or Security Center using manufacturer’s plugin, which provides also dashboards with detailed traffic insights.

Vehicle access control

In vehicle access control scenario, the application controls access to gated communities and other areas through monitoring of entrances and exits. The application compares detected license plates against an whitelist or a blacklist and grants or denies access to the area. Each of the lists can contain up to 10,000 license plates.

Cybersecurity

The app shall support HTTPS and self-signed certificates for secure data transmission, supports „signed ACAP“ protection and supports newest camera manufacturer’s cybersecurity requirements (restricted user access to app settings), making the app complaint with NIS2 directive.

Application Programming Interface

Open API for software integration.

Event streaming

Integrates with camera event management system to enable event streaming to management software and camera actions such as I/O control, notification, and edge storage.
